The Avengers: Infinity War is finally here. And before we review possibly the year’s biggest movie, we present the final episode of “The Road to Infinity War”. This week we talk about two official “Avengers” films, with a little speculation on the latest one out now in cinemas. What comic book fans never thought was possible in their wildest dreams, comes the greatest crossover team-up superhero film ever. Taking over cinemas way back in 2012, and making a cool 1.5 billion dollars in the process.
The Avengers are here
We’ve come a long way haven’t we, who would’ve thought the humble superhero movie would become the mainstream mainstay it is now. Though much credit must be given to Richard Donner’s genre-defining “Superman” back in 1978, or even Tim Burton’s twisted take on “Batman” in 1989.
But without question, it’s Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” that enthralled modern movie audiences to storm cinemas in 2007. The success was not only in critical praise but financially evident in its massive ticket sales. The industry perked their ears and the scramble began to cash in on this burgeoning renewed interest in the comic book movie.
And while DC had the head start, it was Marvel studios who would eventually usurp the throne. With a calculated and multi-segmented approach to its release schedule, infecting the fanbase with a fervour that’s yet to be matched still. It’s been a glorious decade of anticipation, and with Infinity War finally out, we hope to see more in the years to come.
