Black Panther claws his way into movie theaters to much critical acclaim and fanfare. But before we travel to Wakanda, let’s take a quick detour to Sacramento, USA. Sacramento Dreaming

In our opening segment we continue our “Road to Oscars 2018”, where we review Ladybird, from first time director and mumblecore darling Greta Gerwig. A coming of age drama, starring Saoirse Ronan in her “Best Actress” nominated role as  the titular lead

The film follows the life of Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson, a high school senior struggling with her identity and relationships growing up in the suburbs of Sacramento. Constantly at odds with her mother, and also with herself, she dreams of entering a prestigious “Ivy League” college. We thought the movie was fine, but is it Oscar worthy? Tune in now and find out!

The Black Panther Movement

Wakanda on the rise! Black Panther takes a chance with another lesser known hero, and hopes to achieve the success of other notable solo entries like Ant-Man and Doctor Strange. Acclaimed filmmaker Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale station, Creed) directs a star studded cast, featuring Chadwick Boseman and frequent Coogler collaborator Michael B Jordan.

Now we’ve mentioned we’re suffering from a small case of Marvel burnout, but with Infinity War around the corner. Does the Panther have what it takes to keep us interested, or will the kitty be declawed?
