Episode 58 – Punisher Daddy

Just call me Big Punisher! It’s that next level shit again, and this time we go all in on the latest Netflix/Marvel offering. We’re talking of course about the first season of the new solo Punisher show. Jon Bernthal reprises his role as the titular character. And after much critical and fan praise from his appearance in Daredevil Season 2, he has his work cut out for him. This time the question on our minds is whether he can carry his show, or is it firing blanks? Listen in to find out what we think and where the show fits in the legacy of Frank Castle.

Welcome Back, Frank!

After and explosive debut in the last season of Daredevil, the prodigal mass-murderer returns to our screens in an all new solo season. Jon Bernthal returns as our other favorite psychopathic vigilante, but this time joined by an array of other side characters. We follow the arcs of Agent Dina Madani tasked with taking down Frank Castle. And in a more topical light there’s also Lewis Wilson, a young veteran struggling with PTSD. There stories intertwine and all leads to confrontations with the shows lead.

Punisher Kills the Last King Podcast!

As usual, we trail off and talk about the amazing Max comic series by Garth Ennis and also other media including the Dolph Lundgren movie back in the 80s. We even bring up the guilty pleasure that is War Zone starring Ray Stevenson. And even mention early origins when the character played second fiddle to D-tier character “The Jackal” in a Spiderman comic.

And here’s a little bonus a link to the Adi Shankar fan film with Thomas Jane returning as Frank Castle.

So that is the episode, thanks for tuning in and if you want to keep up with more Last King goodness subscribe to our show on iTunes and Soundcloud. Also, you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Tell us what you think and what you want to hear on the show!
