It’s our coverage of the VGAs 2018 or for the rest of you the Videogame Awards. From the overabundance of ads to Geoff Keighley’s total lack of modesty. It’s the one night we pay tribute to our favourite hobby and how this is sadly the only event we have to do so. Listen now!
Just like last year, we review the “biggest” awards show dedicated to the greatest hobby of all, video games. Much like the previous year, the VGAs has us scratching our heads and chins. Not only was it a glorified showcase of trailers and ads, but also a confusing platform to critique and validate video games as a medium.
From categories that didn’t seem appropriate or valid, to nominations that were questionable, or outright inaccurate. The affair was like many other awards, just an excuse for industry people to self congratulate or campaign for their products. It was all just marketing money on display, and we have a lot to say about it in this episode.
