Episode 59 – Coco Loco

Who are you trying to get crazy with, Ese? Don’t You Know we’re loco? Loco for new releases that are! And this week we get derailed rather easily with the Kenneth Branagh vehicle Murder on the Orient Express. A star-studded ensemble comes together to retell one of Agatha Christie’s most famous works. Does it live up to previous attempts or does it go off the tracks? But before that we paint our faces and step into the land of the dead, Disney/Pixar’s Coco gets the last king treatment and safe to say it delivers all the feels.

I’m in love with the Coco

Kicking off the show we travel to the land of the dead with Disney/Pixar’s Coco. A moving tale of a young shoemaker named Miguel, torn between following his dreams and carrying out the wishes of his family. Miguel accidentally finds himself trapped in the land of the dead when he steals a guitar from the mausoleum of the late Ernesto de la Cruz, a legendary mariachi singer. Miguel believes Ernesto to be his ancestor and also the key to him returning back to the land of the living.  Featuring the voices of Benjamin Bratt, Gael Garcia Bernal, Alanna Ubach and Anthony Gonzalez as Miguel.  Coco will delight and amaze with songs and it’s visual splendour.

Keep this train a-coming

And in our main segment, we go off the tracks and review “Murder on the Orient Express”. Kenneth Branagh directs himself and an all-star cast through this retelling of the classic whodunnit. Featuring Daisy Ridley, Josh Gad, Willem Dafoe, Penelope Cruz, Michelle Pfeiffer and Johnny Depp, will sheer star power be enough to bring audiences to theatres? Or will the weight of the source material crush any momentum for a Poirot-verse?
